US business inventories were unchanged month-over-month in August 2025, after a downwardly revised 0.1% increase in July and compared with market forecasts of a 0.1% rise. Inventories for both manufacturers (vs 0.2% in July) and merchant wholesalers (vs 0.1%) remained unchanged, while those for retailers fell by 0.1% (vs 0.1%). On a yearly basis, total business inventories rose by 1.1% in August.
