Turkey’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 8.6% in June from 8.4% the previous month, returning to April’s peak — the highest level since October 2024. The number of unemployed individuals increased by 52,000 to 3.047 million, while employment slipped by 18,000 to 32.452 million, pushing the employment rate down slightly to 48.9% from a revised 49.0% in May. The male employment rate held steady at 66.2%, while the rate for women eased to 31.9%, down from 32.1% a month earlier. Additionally, the labor force participation rate remained unchanged at 53.5% for the third consecutive month. Youth unemployment (ages 15–24) increased to 16.2% from 15.6% in May.
