Thailand's business confidence indicator fell to 46.7 in May 2025 from 47.1 in the previous month, marking its lowest level since September 2024. The decline reflected growing concerns across several key areas, particularly in production (48.5 vs 47.3), with sharp contractions in the electric appliance and food industries due to postponed orders as trading partners reassess the impact of upcoming tariffs. Moreover, confidence continued to deteriorate in overall order books (44.4 vs 45.9) and export conditions (43.7 vs 46.4), while investment sentiment also weakened (51.2 vs 52.6). Meanwhile, there was a modest improvement in employment sentiment (49.5 vs 48.1), providing a slight counterbalance. Looking ahead, the three-month forward-looking business sentiment index rose to 49.4 from 48.9 in April 2025.
