The annual inflation rate in Taiwan edged down to 2.03% in April 2025 from a revised 2.32% in the previous month. The slowdown was mainly driven by lower inflation across several sub-indexes, including food (4.34% vs 4.91% in March), housing (1.89% vs 2.21%), miscellaneous (2.85% vs 3.12%), and health (1.96% vs 2.03%). In addition, prices fell more sharply in transportation and communication (-0.76% vs -0.50%), while the rate of decline slowed in clothing (-0.12% vs -0.32%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, consumer prices increased by just 0.05%, marking the smallest rise since December 2023, down from 0.17% in the previous month.
