Switzerland’s consumer confidence index stood at -42 in April 2025, the lowest in fourteen months, falling four points from the same month last year and coming in below market expectations of -34. The sharpest decline was seen in the expected economic development sub-index, which plunged to -66.5 from -21.2 in April 2024, reflecting growing pessimism about the country's economic outlook. However, other components showed relative improvement compared to a year ago: the assessment of the past financial situation rose to -42.1 from -57.6, the expected financial situation improved slightly to -33 from -36.2, and the index for timing major purchases increased to -28 from -37.2.
