Switzerland’s trade surplus widened to CHF 4.3 billion in February 2025 from an upwardly revised CHF 4.1 billion in the previous month, marking the largest trade surplus since November 2024. Exports grew by 6.6% from the previous month to CHF 24.4 billion, primarily due to increased sales of chemical and pharmaceutical products (12%) and machinery and electronics (1.9%). Shipments increased to North America (9.1%) and Europe (6.6%). However, shipments declined to Asia (-0.5%). Meanwhile, imports rose at a faster rate of 7% to CHF 20.1 billion, mainly driven by higher purchases of costume jewelry and jewelry (25.7%) and chemical and pharmaceutical products (19.5%). Arrivals rose from Europe (7.8%), Asia (4.2%), and Central and South America (1.8%). However, arrivals dropped from North America (-5.3%) and Africa (-2.7%).
