Spain's trade deficit shrank to €3.88 billion in April 2025, from €4.66 billion in the same month last year, as imports fell more than exports. Imports dropped by 5.8% to €36.4 billion, largely due to reduced purchases of energy products (-12.2%), raw materials (-26.9%), chemical products (-6.9%), automotive products (-6.9%), of which auto parts (-20.8%) and non-chemical semi-manufactured goods (-6.1%). Among key partners, imports declined from the EU (-2.4%); the UK (-8.7%), the US (-0.4%) and China (-3.8%). Meanwhile, exports decreased by 4.4% to €32.5 billion, mainly due to lower shipments of energy products (-22.5%), capital goods (-7.5%), automotive products (-7.3%), consumer durable goods (-11.6%) and raw materials (-6.4%). Exports fell to the EU (-8.3%) and the US (-13.8%) but jumped to China (+20.4%).
