Saudi Arabia’s annual inflation rate came in at 2.2% in May 2025, falling short of market forecasts of 2.3%, which had also been the pace in the previous two months. It was the lowest reading since February, as prices of food & beverages rose the least in three months (1.6% vs 2.2% in April). Costs also moderated for restaurants & hotels (1.8% vs 2.0%), and personal goods & services (4.0% vs 3.5%). Simultaneously, prices fell further for clothing (-0.9% vs -1.2%), furnishings and household equipment (-2.5% vs -1.8%), transport (-0.8% vs -1.0%), communication (-1.4% vs -1.5%), and recreation and culture (-0.6% vs -0.7%). In contrast, inflation was unchanged for both housing and utilities (6.8% vs 6.8%) and education (1.3% vs 1.3%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.1%, down from 0.3% in the prior two months, representing the slowest pace in five months.
