Poland posted a trade deficit of €1,895 million in March 2025, a sharp reversal from a €293 million surplus in the same month last year. Imports surged by 9.1% to €31.1 billion, reflecting strong domestic demand amid a gradual economic recovery. The increase in imports was led by robust demand for consumer goods—particularly a double-digit rise in durable goods—as well as higher purchases of intermediate and capital goods. Meanwhile, exports rose modestly by 1.4% to €29.2 billion, constrained by the weakening European automotive sector and rising competition within EU markets. Foreign sales of automotive parts and consumer durables fell sharply, weighing on overall export performance.
