Paraguay's trade deficit widened to US$422.99 million in March 2025, compared to a deficit of US$328.08 million in the same month last year. Exports fell 6.4% year-on-year to US$5,149.5 million, mainly due to a decrease in electricity sales, which fell 17.4%, and a 21.1% reduction in flour shipments and a 23.6% reduction in soybean shipments. Imports increased 3.2% to US$5,461.2 million, driven by increased purchases of consumer goods (13.1%), such as food substances (34.6%) and textiles (16.6%), as well as capital goods (25%) and goods for domestic use (8.2%), while imports of intermediate goods decreased (-16.6%).
