The annual inflation rate in Lebanon eased to 12.2% in December 2025 from 14.7% in November, marking the lowest reading since February 2020. Prices moderated across several categories namely food and non-alcoholic beverages (14.6% vs 17% in November), transportation (3.2% vs 5.4%), education (35.9% vs 76.8%), clothing and footwear (2% vs 7.1%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (8.1% vs 8.5%), recreation, amusement, and culture (31.6% vs 39.8%), restaurants and hotels (7.6% vs 9.7%), and miscellaneous goods and services (21.6% vs 26.7%). At the same time, deflation deepened in communication (-0.7% vs -0.5%), and furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-1.6% vs -1.1%). On the other hand, costs accelerated for housing and utilities (17.2% vs 15.4%), while it held steady in health (2.2%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices stalled in December 2025, following a 0.82% increase in the previous month.
