The French economy shrank 0.1% qoq in Q4 of 2024, missing market estimates of no growth and shifting from a 0.4% expansion in Q3, flash data showed. It was the first quarterly contraction since Q1 2022, amid political mire and the fading boost from the summer Olympics. Fixed investment stayed weak (-0.1% vs -0.3% in Q3), with a sharper fall in construction investment and rises in manufactured goods and market services investment.
