The Euro Area consumer confidence indicator rose by 1.4 to -15.2 in May 2025 from -16.6 in April, in line with preliminary estimates. In the broader European Union, sentiment also rose by 1.4 points, driven by receding pessimism about the general economic situation. Also consumers’ assessment of their households’ expected financial situation and their intentions to make major purchases rebounded. Meanwhile, their perceptions of their past financial situation remained largely unchanged.
