The Euro Area consumer confidence indicator eased by 0.8 points to -15.5 in August 2025, the lowest in four months, from -14.7 in July, in line with preliminary estimates. In the broader European Union, sentiment also fell by 0.3 points to -14.8 from -14.5 in July, as consumers grew notably more pessimistic about their household’s expected financial situation, while their outlook on the broader economy and past household finances remained relatively less negative. Nevertheless, the drop in overall confidence was partly offset by a rise in intentions to make major purchases over the next 12 months.
