The HCOB Eurozone Composite PMI rose to 47.1 in November 2023, up from a near three-year low of 46.5 in the previous month and slightly above market expectations of 46.9, a preliminary estimate showed. The latest reading still indicated a sixth consecutive month of reduced business activity, albeit at a decelerated pace, with both services and manufacturing sectors showing slower contraction rates during this period. Total inflows of new orders experienced the smallest decline in four months, while backlogs of work decreased for the eighth consecutive month. Employment levels saw their first decline in just under three years. On the pricing front, input costs saw the most significant rise since May, and output price inflation increased from October. Finally, business confidence remained unchanged, with firms maintaining a moderate level of optimism regarding the outlook for activity over the coming year.
