The trade deficit in Estonia narrowed to EUR 321 million in July 2024, down from EUR 380 million in the corresponding month of the previous year. Exports rose 5% year-on-year to EUR 1,334 million, prompted by higher sales to EU (2%) and non-EU (16%) countries. Among commodities, shipments were particularly up for agricultural products & food preparations (23%), electrical equipment (21%), and raw materials & products of chemical industry (17%). Meanwhile, imports grew at a softer 1% to EUR 1,655 million, with purchases falling from EU countries (-3%), and rising from non-EU countries (23%). Arrivals mainly increased for wood & articles of wood (30%), raw materials & products of chemical industry (19%), and agricultural products & food preparations (13%). Considering January to July, the country’s trade deficit widened to EUR 1,916 million from EUR 1,729 million in the same period a year earlier.
