El Salvador’s trade deficit increased to $1,078.5 million in July 2025 from $768.8 million in the same month of previous year, as imports grew much faster than exports. Imports surged 28% year-on-year to $1,720.2 million, while exports increased 11.7% to $641.7 million, not enough to offset the sharp rise in foreign purchases. Export growth was driven by a 13.2% increase in non-traditional goods, while traditional goods fell 6.5%.
