El Salvador’s trade deficit increased to $857.23 million in August 2025 from $785.3 million in the same month of previous year, as imports grew much faster than exports. Imports increased 5.58% year-on-year to $1,398.2 million, while exports slightly increased by 1% to $540.9 million, not enough to offset the sharp rise in foreign purchases. Export growth was driven by a 154.84% surge in traditional goods, while non-traditional goods fell 3.27%.
