Colombia’s trade deficit widened to $2.01 billion in August 2025 from $1.69 billion a year earlier, as imports rose and exports declined. Imports increased 5.7% to $5.85 billion, driven by an 11.5% rise in manufactured goods to $4.57 billion. Purchases of agricultural, food, and beverage products rose 9.3% to $852.9 million, while fuel and extractive industry imports dropped 37.3% to $405.7 million. Exports slipped 0.1% to $3.84 billion, weighed down by an 18.1% fall in fuel and extractive shipments to $1.41 billion and an 11.3% decline in manufactured exports to $845 million. In contrast, agricultural, food, and beverage exports surged 49.3% to $1.27 billion.
