Chile’s trade balance shifted to a $62 million deficit in July 2025, from a $1.109 billion surplus in the same month last year. Exports declined by 1.8% to $8.114 billion, largely due to a sharp 11.4% drop in mining shipments, driven by a 14.6% fall in copper exports and a steep 36.2% plunge in iron exports. In contrast, agricultural (+4.1%) and industrial (+16.1%) exports recorded gains. Meanwhile, imports surged 18.2% to $8.207 billion, with increases across all categories: capital goods (+22.7%), intermediate goods (+17.5%), and consumer goods (+15.9%).
