Canada's GDP is expected to grow by 0.1% in October 2024, with increases in real estate, rental and leasing, transportation and warehousing, and retail trade being partially offset by declines in construction and mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction. In September 2024, the economy grew by 0.1%, below the preliminary estimate of 0.3%. Services-producing industries rose by 0.2% in September, driven by growth in wholesale trade (+0.9%), retail trade (+1%), and transportation and warehousing (+0.7%). However, information and cultural industries (-0.1%) and professional, scientific, and technical services (-0.2%) contracted. Meanwhile, goods-producing industries contracted by 0.3%, with mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction declining (-1.4%) and manufacturing falling (-0.3%), though construction grew (+0.4%).
