The unemployment rate in Austria climbed to 8.3% in December 2024, up from 7.8% in the corresponding month of the previous year. This marked the highest jobless rate since April 2021, as the number of registered unemployed increased by 23.5 thousand from a year earlier to an over three and a half-year high of 352.9 thousand. Compared to the previous period, unemployed persons went up by 48.5 thousand.
