The unemployment rate in Austria rose to 8.6% in January 2025, up from 8.1% in the corresponding month of the previous year. This marked the highest jobless rate since April 2021, as the number of registered unemployed increased by 21.9 thousand from a year earlier to a nearly four year high of 365.7 thousand. Compared to the previous period, unemployed persons rose by 12.8 thousand.
