The unemployment rate in Austria rose to 6.8% in June 2025 from 6.2% in the same month of the previous year. The increase was driven by a rise in the number of unemployed persons, which climbed by 24.5 thousand year-on-year to 288.5 thousand. However, compared to the previous period, the number of unemployed persons decreased by 7.6 thousand. By gender, the jobless rate for women stood at 6.6%, 0.6 percentage points higher than a year earlier, while the rate for men rose by 0.5 percentage points to 6.9%. Meanwhile, around 364 thousand people were registered as unemployed or in training, and about 39.4 thousand unemployed persons found work in June. The average duration of unemployment remained around 127 days.
