P/L for common pip moves

Buy-side profit or loss on 0.5 lots of EUR/USD at 10, 25, 50 and 100 pips, from the live rate.

PipsPrice move (pips)Profit / loss
1010.0$50.00
2525.0$125.00
5050.0$250.00
100100.0$500.00

How it works

P/L (quote currency) = (Exit − Entry) × Units [buy] P/L (quote currency) = (Entry − Exit) × Units [sell] P/L (account currency) = P/L × conversion rate
Worked example

Buying one standard lot of EUR/USD at 1.1000 and closing at 1.1025 gains 25 pips: (1.1025 − 1.1000) × 100,000 = +$250. The same move against a short position loses $250.

الأسئلة الشائعة

Profit is the price change multiplied by the position size in units. For a buy, profit = (exit − entry) × units; for a sell the difference is reversed. The result is in the quote currency and is converted to your account currency at the live rate.
The calculator prefills the entry with the live market price of the selected pair so you can plan a trade from the current level. You can overwrite it with any price — for example, to review a closed trade.
No. It computes the raw price P/L between your two levels. Broker costs — spread, commission and overnight swap — reduce the realized result and vary by broker, so factor them in separately.
Green indicates a profitable outcome and red a losing one, using the same colors FXEmpire uses for price changes across the site. The pips row shows the same result expressed as a price move.
Half a standard lot is a common retail size and keeps the worked numbers readable. Change it to any size your broker allows; pip value and P/L scale linearly with size.
Profit divided by the optional reference account size (default $10,000). It is a planning figure for comparing setups, not your broker’s realized ROI.
